90 Degrees
Medium: Oil on Canvas
2010

24" x 24"

Hot colors and right angles!

Integration
Medium: Oil on Paper
2010

23.5" x 30"

This began as two paintings of butterflies that became much more interesting when woven together.

Desert Life
Medium: Oil on Linen
2010

14" x 26"

Garden Gone Wild
Medium: Oil on Glass Mirror
2010

17" x 28"

This is an abstract oil painted on a mirror! You pick which way you want to hang it, horizontal or vertical.

Safe, Secure Banking
Medium: Oil on Canvas
2010

36" x 24"

A couple of slightly crazy piggy banks inspired by pieces from a friends collection of plaster figures from the 40's and 50's. Besides, it does seem a fitting statement to today's banking environment!

Caribean Rainbow
Medium: Oil on Paper
2009

22 1/2" x 22 1/2"

There are no colors as vivid as those found in the Caribean, both naturally and the brightly painted houses. This piece is oil on paper that has been torn and woven together.

Something's Brewing
Medium: Oil on Linen
2008

20" x 40"

There's lots of texture in this painting created by doing the underpainting with a palette knife. The perfect reflection of the above ground shapes was captured in a photo taken by my husband in Colorado.

Great Smoky's
Medium:  Oil on Linen
2008

24" high x 30"

This interpretation of a photo of the Smokeys was very spontaneous and derives some of its perspective from the use of a glossy medium added to the paint.

On A Clear Day
Medium: Oil on Linen
2008

36" x 18"

I am drawn to cityscapes with very hard lines and edges that I can then dramatize. I think this composition makes you wonder what's inside the doorway, what's up the steps....

Lynne's Perspective
Medium: Oil on Linen
2008

18" x 18"

Lynne was an awesome cat sitter and friend who is also a wonderful photographer and has shared her pictures with me allowing me to paint my version of her vision. "Perspective" is three canvases layered on top of each other for additional depth (and is, actually, the reverse of the photo).

God Is A Girl
Medium: Oil on Canvas
2008

18" x 36"

The pinkest sunset ever, after a quick storm.

Cactus IV (Saguaro)
Medium: Oil and Charcoal on Linen
2008

40" x 36"

I did five paintings with different cactus species as the subject. I love the desert and have lots of photos from which to draw inspiration. These paintings are a combination of oil and charcoal and are my interpretation of the desert in all its colorful glory.

Molybdenum Mine

Medium: Collage ; Glass rods & Oil on Glass
2007

22 1/2" x 40 1/2"

This oil painting on glass incorporates pieces of glass rods into the composition. A wonderful glass bead/jewelry artist and friend of mine, Mary V. Smith, gave me the glass pieces from her scrap jar which led me to create this piece from a photo of an old mine near Leadville, CO. The un-natural colorations that occurred because of the chemicals used in the mining process made for a beautiful landscape. (The chemicals, however, had made the land uninhabitable for animals or vegetation. The good news, now, is that it is being cleaned up and growth has begun and the elk and their friends are returning to the area.) The side with the glass pieces merges the frame into the composition; the frame is painted green and blue on the other side. When hung in a window the painting changes throughout the day with the angle of the sun!
